Diablo 4 Mythic Uniques Get Easier to Find in Season 14 Update

Diablo 4 Mythic Uniques are getting a major boost in Season 14’s first update, but the change may not be enough to fix the biggest complaints from players. As one of Blizzard’s most recognisable video game franchises, Diablo often faces intense player scrutiny whenever a seasonal system changes. Update 3.1.1 arrives on July 14 and makes Mythic items easier to obtain by increasing Pandemonium Fragment rewards and lowering the cost of upgrading Uniques through the Horadric Cube.

Season 14 launched on June 30 with Blizzard’s new “Mythic Uniques 3.0” system. Instead of only a small group of special items being Mythic, the new system allows more than 100 Unique items in the game to become stronger Mythic versions. On paper, the idea was meant to create more build variety and give players more exciting loot to chase.

However, the system quickly became controversial. Players complained that finding a useful Mythic was too random, especially because there is no reliable way to target the exact item needed for a build. Many also disliked the restriction that only one crafted Mythic can be equipped at a time.

Update 3.1.1 tries to make the grind feel better by giving players more chances to gamble for Mythics. The repeatable Glints of Hope reputation reward will now guarantee one Pandemonium Fragment. The Corrupted Reaper can drop up to two Pandemonium Fragments on higher Torment levels, and the Horadric Cube upgrade cost has been reduced from five fragments to four.

These changes mean players will be able to use the Horadric Cube more often and attempt more Mythic upgrades. Blizzard has also increased the chance that naturally dropped Mythics will be Iconic Mythics, which should make random drops feel slightly more rewarding.

Still, the update does not solve every issue. The biggest limitation remains unchanged: players can still equip only one crafted Mythic. That means once a player creates a strong Mythic that fits their build, the item chase can feel much less exciting. Getting another crafted Mythic may not matter if it cannot be used alongside the first one.

Another issue is that old favorite Mythics, including items like Heir of Perdition, Harlequin Crest and The Grandfather, are harder to obtain and may not feel as powerful as before. Because of the new random modifier system, even a rare Mythic drop may not be good enough for a specific build.

Patch 3.1.1 also includes several bug fixes and quality-of-life changes. For players using cloud gaming services, performance stability and smoother seasonal content can be just as important as loot changes. Deathtoll Chambers will now reward at least one Superior Lair Key in high Torment levels, and the update fixes problems with seasonal objectives, Tower rewards, Whisper Caches, class abilities and performance stability.

For now, Diablo 4 Season 14 is becoming more generous with Mythic Uniques, but many players are still waiting for deeper balance changes. More fragments and cheaper upgrades will help, but unless Blizzard changes the crafted Mythic restriction or gives players better ways to target specific items, the season’s biggest loot problems may remain.
