Playground Games has shared new details about how Forza Horizon 6 will run on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, confirming that both consoles will include two visual options at launch: Quality mode and Performance mode.
The update gives players a clearer idea of what to expect when the game arrives next week. Alongside the technical details, Playground also revealed information about the game’s radio stations, accessibility options, and reward cars for returning Forza players.
Quality and Performance Modes on Xbox Series X
On Xbox Series X, players will be able to choose between sharper visuals or smoother gameplay. In Quality mode, Forza Horizon 6 will run at a native 4K resolution with a target of 30 frames per second. This mode is designed for players who want the cleanest image quality and the most detailed presentation.
In Performance mode, the game will still target a 4K output, but it will use dynamic resolution scaling to maintain a stable 60 frames per second. This option is aimed at players who prefer smoother driving and faster response during races.
Xbox Series S Will Also Offer Two Modes
The Xbox Series S version will also include both Quality and Performance modes, though at lower resolution targets compared to Series X. In Quality mode, Forza Horizon 6 will run at 1440p and 30fps. In Performance mode, the game will target 1080p and 60fps.
| Console | Mode | Resolution | Frame Rate | Dynamic Resolution Scaling |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Xbox Series X | Quality | Native 4K | 30fps | No major scaling mentioned |
| Xbox Series X | Performance | Targets 4K | 60fps | Yes |
| Xbox Series S | Quality | 1440p | 30fps | Yes |
| Xbox Series S | Performance | 1080p | 60fps | Yes |
Playground Games also noted that on Xbox Series S, both modes will use dynamic resolution scaling when needed to help keep the game close to its target frame rate.
Forza Horizon 6 Will Feature Nine Radio Stations
Beyond the graphics options, Playground Games confirmed that Forza Horizon 6 will include nine radio stations.
The studio also said the game will feature the largest soundtrack in the history of the Horizon series. That means players can expect a broader music selection while exploring the open world, racing through events, and driving across the game’s new map.
Loyalty Reward Cars for Returning Forza Players
Playground Games also confirmed a set of loyalty reward cars for players who have previously played Forza titles using the same Xbox GamerTag. Players who have played earlier Forza Horizon games, or Forza Motorsport from 2021, will receive reward cars based on the cover vehicles from those titles. These cars will become available after completing the Tokyo City introductory race with Mei.
The rewards include cover cars from Forza Horizon through Forza Horizon 5, along with the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray, which was connected to the 2021 Forza Motorsport cover.
There is one notable change. Instead of the 2018 McLaren Senna, which was the cover car for Forza Horizon 4, players will receive the 2016 Aston Martin Vulcan. Playground Games has not explained why the McLaren Senna is missing, though car licensing often affects which vehicles can appear in racing games.
More Forza Horizon 6 Features Are Coming Into Focus
The new information adds to what has already been revealed about Forza Horizon 6. Previous previews have highlighted the game’s world design, new open-world events, seasonal systems, expanded customization, special Forza Edition cars, and community-inspired Horizon Rush events.
With launch approaching, the latest update gives Xbox players a better look at how the game will perform on each console. Whether players choose visual quality or smoother frame rates, Forza Horizon 6 will offer flexible graphics settings across both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
