1. Blame!
- Genre: Cyberpunk, sci-fi, action
- Why watch it: Dark world-building and intense dystopian atmosphere
Based on Tsutomu Nihei’s manga, Blame! follows Killy, a quiet wanderer searching through a massive futuristic structure known as The City. The film may not capture every layer of the original manga, but it succeeds as a stylish cyberpunk action story filled with danger, isolation and striking visuals. It is a strong choice for viewers who enjoy bleak science fiction and mysterious worlds.
2. Dorohedoro
- Genre: Dark fantasy, action, absurd comedy
- Why watch it: Strange characters, brutal humor and unforgettable style
Dorohedoro is one of the weirdest and most entertaining anime available on Netflix. The series mixes gore, comedy, mystery and surreal world-building in a way that feels chaotic but never boring.
3. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
- Genre: Cyberpunk, action, tragedy
- Why watch it: One of Netflix’s strongest anime originals
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners works even if you have never played Cyberpunk 2077. It also shows why game-inspired anime remains popular, from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners to Devil May Cry Season 2 and other adaptations built around major gaming franchises. Set in Night City, the anime follows David Martinez, a young man who becomes an Edgerunner after being pulled into a violent world of cybernetic upgrades, crime and corporate power. The animation, soundtrack and emotional ending helped turn it into one of Netflix’s most praised anime releases.
4. Great Pretender
- Genre: Crime, comedy, heist
- Why watch it: Stylish scams and international adventure
Great Pretender follows Makoto Edamura, a small-time con artist who gets dragged into bigger and riskier scams around the world. The anime blends clever heists with colorful visuals and fast-paced comedy. It is a great pick for viewers who want something fun, stylish and different from traditional action-heavy anime.
5. Devilman Crybaby
- Genre: Horror, dark fantasy, psychological drama
- Why watch it: Emotional, violent and unforgettable
Devilman Crybaby is a modern adaptation of Go Nagai’s classic Devilman manga. The anime follows Akira and Ryo as humanity faces a terrifying demonic threat, but the story quickly becomes more than a simple battle between humans and monsters. It explores fear, violence, identity and empathy, making it one of Netflix’s most intense anime experiences.
6. Delicious in Dungeon
- Genre: Fantasy, adventure, comedy
- Why watch it: Creative world-building and monster cooking
Delicious in Dungeon turns dungeon exploration into something surprisingly warm and clever. After Falin is eaten by a dragon, her brother Laios and his party continue through the dungeon while surviving by cooking the monsters they encounter. The anime begins with a cozy sense of humor, but gradually reveals deeper fantasy lore and darker stakes.
7. Violet Evergarden
- Genre: Drama, fantasy, emotional slice of life
- Why watch it: Beautiful animation and heartbreaking storytelling
Violet Evergarden is one of the most emotional anime associated with Netflix. The story follows Violet, a former child soldier trying to understand love, grief and human emotion after the war. Working as a letter writer, she helps others express feelings they cannot put into words, while slowly discovering her own humanity. With stunning animation from Kyoto Animation, it remains a must-watch drama.
